Cofounder of Failory
Who is Rich Clominson?
Hey there! I am Rich Clominson, Co-Founder of Failory.
Failory is a community where failed startup owners come to tell their failure stories and the mistakes they committed, so that future entrepreneurs can learn from them and don’t make the same errors.
Can You Tell us the Story of Your Business?
The story behind Failory is quite ironic.
We are a group of friends and aspiring entrepreneurs who started Failory after having failed in our previous side-project for committing the same mistakes over again over. We began wondering on the idea of a website that would gather stories of failed entrepreneur and explanations of the mistakes these made. We agreed that the best way to show these stories was by interviews with their protagonists. And that’s how Failory was born.
After some weeks of work, Failory was launched and since then, we continued uploading new interviews and new content. Our audience is increasing every day and we are always thinking of new projects for the future!
What Has Been Your Biggest Struggle?
As we have read every interview and the mistakes each entrepreneur committed, we consider ourselves the masters of failure. However, we also commit mistakes.
One of the main struggles we have had was the launch of Failory. We didn’t take great advantage of it. Against everybody recommendations, we schedule it for a Sunday, when most people where with their family instead of paying attention to new releases. We were promoted in ProductHunt and HackerNews, and although we ended up being #1, we were looking to go more viral.
The biggest struggle right now is trying to market the product and optimizing the website for Google.
What Has Been Your Greatest Achievement?
Our biggest achievement has been choosing the right co-founders. Our abilities and skills complement each other. While I am specialized in digital marketing, my partner is in charge of web development and the 3 co-founders have the design responsibility.
