Founder of Millionaire Millennial
Who Are You?
My name’s Jordan Kilburn from Dallas, TX and I develop SaaS companies and sell them. My most recent exit was go-atlas.io for $365,000. I’m always working on something new and I share it on jordankilburn.com. I tend to document my process and provide tutorials on my YouTube channel: The Millionaire Millennial
What’s the Story of Your Business?
I guess I’ll talk about my most recent exit (Atlas) since that’s fresh in my mind. It started up in late 2018. I was selling products on Amazon and I was using a super clunky and outdated piece of software to manage my inventory and find product leads. I had a small team of VAs bringing in a lot of leads – too many for me to sell, in fact.
That’s when the idea hit me: sell those excess leads to other Amazon sellers. Mix that with inventory management and you’ve got an all-in-one source-to-sale platform. I spent a few months coding the platform myself (teaching myself to code along the way).
I launched the MVP to a decently large list of people that follow my YouTube channel – mostly other Amazon sellers (A.K.A. my target market). Within a month I was at ~10k MRR. With about 100 users. The price point was over $100/mo.
The validation was in the fact that I myself was an Amazon seller so I knew it was something that, at least, I needed. Once I sent an email to my audience and saw the response, I knew this was something that I needed to build.
What Has Been Your Biggest Struggle?
Taking life too fast. We live in a world where everything needs to be done yesterday and I find myself getting caught up in that. I’m only 26 right now and I want to take a step back and enjoy life at a slower pace instead of racing ahead to get in front of other people that I don’t even know.
What Has Been Your Greatest Achievement?
So far – getting that fat $365K payday has probably been the best. Also, when I hit $1 million in revenue from my education company. But also, when I got my 100k subscribers plaque from YouTube. It’s all still very surreal even though it’s been years since some of those events…
Where Do You See Yourself and Your Business in 5 Years
I see myself completely retired. That looks pretty similar to what I’m doing right now though… Playing video games, working on little SaaS projects and making YouTube videos to share my knowledge. I do have an exit strategy! I also already executed it ;P
What Do You Wish You’d Known Before You Started?
Honestly, not much. The fun and enjoyable part (for me anyway) is learning and problem-solving. If I knew a bunch of stuff beforehand it wouldn’t have been as fun! There’s nothing quite like solving a problem you’ve been working on for days with an elegant, beautiful solution.
Finally, Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself?
I’m an avid guitar player. Not like a crazy pro, but pretty good. I guess that might be kind of weird for the SaaS world? I find it super calming and refreshing after a day of coding or working. I think it’s important all founders have a hobby outside of their main work.
