President of Socialistics
Who Are You?
Jason Yormark. I’m originally from Chicago, but have lived in Seattle since 2005. I own a B2B social media agency called Socialistics.
What’s the Story of Your Business?
I’ve been a lifelong marketer, and always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I knew I wanted to do my own thing someday, and the stars aligned for that to happen in 2018 when I launched Socialistics. I owned the brand/domain for a long time and knew sometime I would put it to use.
What Has Been Your Biggest Struggle?
The marketing agency space is heavily overcrowded and very competitive. It’s very difficult to compete and differentiate. Getting in front of qualified leads has been the biggest challenge. We work with mid to large-sized businesses, and it’s a challenge to not only find decision-makers but find them at the right time.
What Has Been Your Greatest Achievement?
As a business I would say landing the Air Force as a client has been our biggest success as a company. We’ve done some terrific work for them, and it’s opened up doors for us.
Where Do You See Yourself and Your Business in 5 Years
In 5 years I would hope we are a 5-10 million a year agency and have established ourselves as one of the top social media agencies in the world. By then I would hope to look to sell or be acquired.
What Do You Wish You’d Known Before You Started?
I wish I had known that not only is it OK to say no to new business, but it’s necessary. You’ve got to pick the right clients, not all of them.
Finally, Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself?
For quite some time I was officially the “Ugly Christmas Sweater Guy”. Do a Google image search for “ugly Christmas sweater guy” and you’ll see. 🙂
