Luanna Li, Founder of Artrvl

Who are you?

My name is Luanna, from China. I’m an Artrvler (art traveler) and the Founder of Artrvl, an artist-in-residence app for art lovers.

Can you tell us the story of your business from idea to where you are now?

I dived right into execution of the concept once I figured the idea, making demo, interviewing people, sketching MVP, and finding team members. I registered the company in June 2016 in Hong Kong, and put up a crowdfunding campaign in July to test the market. The web app wasn’t developed much until my co-founder and good friend Wael joined the team in January 2017, we met in a trip in Tanzania 2016, our beta was launched 30th of July 2017, till now we have gained nearly 2k active users, and mentioned by some of the biggest media, such as El Pais.

What has been your biggest failure or struggle?

My biggest mistake so far was to keep one procrastinating developer and depend fully on one starup’s software to build my app for 6 months. We have to be really OUT there, use every resources, seize every opportunities, while we have the absolute control ourselves. Be very decisive, and fast.

And what has been your biggest achievement or success?

We are still far away from our goals.

What’s your must read business book?

Most books from George Lois are damn good

Who’s your most inspirational CEO or founder?

Richard Branson

And can you tell us something weird or interesting about yourself?

I can change and control the plot of my dreams. Once I was wondering around in a big house in my dream, but I had to go to the loo urgently, In the dream I knew I was dreaming and I could locate my physical body lying in a bedroom in the big house, I ran as fast as I can to enter the bedroom, jumped into the body, then I woke up and went to the loo.
